We were absolutely thrilled to visit with the team Mash Direct just recently and present their Awards for 2022, with a road trip to the factory in Northern Ireland. We were very impressed to hear that approximately 240 staff work behind the scenes in this fantastic business. On the day, we weren’t able to have the hoped for tour of the premises as an audit was taking place, but we were very warmly hosted by Clare and Lance with coffee and #glutenfree macaroons as a treat.

We are always pleased to see Mash Direct take a badge in the Awards process. Year after year, all of our judges prove to be big fans of the Mash Direct produce, loving the freshness, the taste and the clean food aspect of these convenient options. This year saw a lot of arguments over the Skinny Chip which was runner up for Product of the Year. It was a close call but some of the judges likened the taste to McD’s fries – a fantastic option for kids and big kids to have safely at home.

We are rooting (sorry pun) for them in the 2023 Awards hoping to see a few new products hit the judging tables… bring your napkins judges and watch this space.

Thanks to Clare and to Lance for welcoming us along. It is wonderful for us to get back out in the world again meeting entrants and presenting awards, which we will keep on doing between now and the opening of the 2023 awards – more on that to follow.

Needless to say Emma and John took some detours via the supermarkets to check out what was on the #freefrom shelves of some of our northern retailers. It was a worthy visit! Let’s hope we might see some of this produce reach shelves in the South again soon.
